Here is a translation of the March 2024 Newsletter :
Like every year, the month of March is synonymous with Bal Pourpre for the Bicolline community.
This year, the venue for the Bal Pourpre will be bigger, as we’ve booked the third room in Espace Shawinigan.
Each region will have its own identified area: expect more seating and more tables.
We’re already hard at work planning an evening you won’t soon forget.
We’d like to remind you that Bicolline is looking for people interested in filling the position of Game masters, especially women. We think it would be a good idea for women to join the next generation of Game masters.
Anyone interested in applying must do so by March 15, 2024, by sending a CV and covering letter to the general game coordinator at martin.champagne@bicolline.org.
It is also still possible for your guild to take command of a frontline for the following activities:
May 18 – Standard military campaign
June 22 – Standard military campaign
July 20 – Scenario exploration campaign (30 groups of 20+ by invitation)
September 7 – Sandard military campaign
October 12 – Competitive military campaign (6 groups of 75+)
November 2 – Standard military campaign

The Terrain and Activities Committee is looking for candidates to fill various positions essential to the smooth running of our events.
Before each war activity organized by Bicolline, team members are tasked with determining the game mechanics to be used during the day, planning and running the activity, and recruiting marshals.
When the war is in full swing, the committee’s presence is essential to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Message from the Grande Bataille coordinators
To make sure you don’t miss out on any news or information, make sure you allow e-mails from the Duché de Bicolline (@bicolline.org)!
Be part of a dynamic and dedicated team at the Grande Bataille!
Every year, the Duché de Bicolline needs passionate, committed people to join the team of volunteers at the Grande Bataille de Bicolline.
We’re grateful for the dedication these volunteers bring to the event, as they perform many of the tasks that help make it a unique event of international renown!
The operation remains similar to that of recent years, but there are a few new features to keep an eye on:
Access to an exclusive volunteer pre-registration period from April 1 to 30 for volunteers with a confirmed task.
Application of the Volunteer Policy from eight hours of volunteering;
Access to the Grande Bataille is offered to participants completing 45 hours of volunteer work;
Access to the volunteer parking lot is offered to participants completing 20 hours of volunteer work;
In order to reach as many of our volunteers as possible, this year’s volunteer meeting will be held virtually, in the days leading up to the Grande Bataille! It’s the perfect opportunity to ask your questions and meet the whole team!
The Volunteer Policy for this year’s event will go live in the next few days, and will be available here: https://bicolline.org/volontaires
You’ll find all the information you need about volunteering at the Grande Bataille!
You can also contact our Volunteer Manager, Cynthia Pinel, by writing to benevolat@bicolline.org.
We are actively recruiting for the following positions:

Site access hours (registration/registration and drop-off) have been modified this year to better reflect actual site traffic.
The arrival of new participants wishing to pass through the reception to confirm their registration will take place exclusively during the following time slots, and shuttles serving the parking lots will also be available at these times:
In order to keep you up to date on construction, we would like to inform you that the interim control by-law, establishing measures to protect wetlands, was recently communicated to us by the municipality.
Our land surveying office is currently working on redoing our maps and plans with the zones impacted by the new regulations, so as to have a global overview.
A large number of field surveys will be required during the summer of 2024, in particular to map wetlands.
The new regulations require future constructions to be set back 30 meters from the shore of a lake, permanent watercourse or wetland.
For the year 2024, only a handful of construction projects could possibly see the light of day (the people/guilds concerned are already in contact with us).
By the end of the summer, Bicolline will be able to present the new areas where developments can resume, as well as the policy for becoming a building owner on the lands of the Duché de Bicolline.
In addition to giving you access to the Geopolitics platform, the membership card entitles you to population cards for our events, as well as discounts on them:
Grande Bataille: $40
Bal Pourpre: $10
Campaign: $15
Thematic evenings: $8
Ducasse: $5
Scenario: between $10 and $20
The annual cost of membership is $70 + taxes ($80.48).
To renew or join the membership card, select “save by becoming a member” when you make your next online reservation: you’ll then see the card fee added to the event fee.
David Huneault has been with us for many moons, and we’re delighted to announce his full-time appointment as game management coordinator!
Here’s a message from him:
Dear members of the Duché de Bicolline community,
It is with great joy and commitment that I announce my recent full-time reintegration into the Duché de Bicolline.
I am honored to continue my role as Game master of the commercial sphere, while officially taking on the responsibility of coordinating game management.
My involvement behind the scenes is of particular importance, as it contributes to the ongoing evolution of our beloved game world.
I would like to express my gratitude to all the clerks, bankers, guild leaders and treasurers who provide me with essential support in the performance of my duties.
My approach, similar to that of a blackjack dealer, reinforces my commitment to impartiality, ensuring fair and transparent management of the game.
I’d like to thank the community for its trust and warm welcome.
Together, we will continue to write the exciting history of our Duché,
David Huneault aka Valmir Todbringer
